What is a good email list growth rate?

There is no universal good rate, because it depends on traffic, offer and how much of the list you lose. Track net growth, meaning new subscribers minus unsubscribes, bounces and removals, and compare it with your own past months.

Raw sign-up counts can flatter you if the list is also shrinking from unsubscribes and clean-ups. Net growth and the share of new subscribers who go on to click or buy tell you more.

Also watch the sign-up rate of your forms against site visits. If traffic grows but sign-ups do not, the offer or placement is usually the problem.

In practice.

A store adds subscribers each month but also removes a similar number of inactive and bounced addresses. It reports net growth and the percentage of new subscribers who buy within their first month.
