How many products should an abandoned cart email show?

Show the items the shopper left behind, and only those. If the cart is large, show the first few and link to the rest, so the email stays focused on getting them back to checkout.

The point of the email is to return the shopper to the exact cart. Extra recommendations can dilute that, so many stores keep suggestions to a small block below the cart items or leave them out of the first email.

Use dynamic content so the email builds itself from the cart. Check how it renders when the cart holds one item and when it holds many.

In practice.

A shopper leaves three items in a cart. The email shows those three with images and prices and one clear button back to checkout. A cart with twelve items shows the first four and a line saying "plus 8 more".
