How to build a high-intent browse segment in Klaviyo

A high-intent browse segment holds people who have shown strong buying signals on your site but have not purchased. In Klaviyo you combine repeated viewed product events, added to cart or started checkout activity and a no recent order condition, then use the segment for campaigns or a tailored flow.

Have this ready.

Steps.

  1. 1. Confirm tracking works

Visit your site as a test profile, view a few products and check the events appear on the profile timeline before building anything.

  2. 2. Define what high intent means

Pick signals such as viewing the same product more than once or viewing several products in a collection within a few days.

  3. 3. Add the viewed product condition

Create a segment with the viewed product metric, set to happened at least a chosen number of times in a short window.

  4. 4. Add stronger signals as alternatives

Include people with an added to cart or started checkout event in the same window, since these show even stronger interest.

  5. 5. Exclude recent purchasers

Add a condition for placed order zero times in the recent window, so you do not market to people who already bought.

  6. 6. Exclude people already in a live flow

Where practical, exclude people in an active browse or cart flow, to avoid duplicate messaging.

  7. 7. Preview and decide the use

Check the size and sample profiles, then use the segment for a targeted campaign or a flow that follows up on browsing.

Klaviyo changes its interface from time to time, so treat the steps as the order of work and match the names to what you see on screen.
