How to create a review request flow in Klaviyo
A review request flow asks customers for a product review after they have had time to use what they bought. In Klaviyo you trigger on a fulfilled order or a review app event, wait until delivery plus usage time, send one clear request, and add a single reminder for people who have not responded.
Have this ready.
- A review platform connected to your store, or a simple review page
- Fulfilment or delivery events available in Klaviyo
- An idea of how long customers need to try the product
- A plain, honest ask with no reward tied to a positive score
Steps.
1. Choose the trigger
Use the fulfilled order metric if your store sends it, since it is closer to delivery than the placed order event.
2. Time the ask
Add a delay long enough for the parcel to arrive and the product to be used. Fast use items need days, slower ones need weeks.
3. Skip people who already reviewed
Add a flow filter on your review app event, so anyone who has left a review never receives the request.
4. Write a simple request
Name the product, say why the review helps other shoppers, and give one large button to the review form.
5. Make leaving a review easy
Link to a page that works well on a phone and does not need an account. Fewer steps means more responses.
6. Add one reminder
Wait a week and send a shorter second message to people who have not reviewed. Stop there rather than chasing.
7. Check support issues first
Exclude customers with an open complaint or a return, so the request does not land on someone unhappy.
Common pitfalls.
- Asking before the product has arrived.
- Offering rewards only for positive reviews, which breaks most review platform rules.
- Sending requests for every item in a large order separately.
- Forgetting to exclude people who already reviewed.
Check it worked.
- Trigger fires from a test fulfilled order
- Delay matches delivery and usage time
- Reviewers are filtered out
- Review form works on a phone
- Both emails are live
Klaviyo changes its interface from time to time, so treat the steps as the order of work and match the names to what you see on screen.
