What is One-click unsubscribe?
One-click unsubscribe is a technical header that lets a mail client show an unsubscribe button that works instantly, without opening a web page.
Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk senders. It makes unsubscribing easy, which lowers spam complaints, since people who cannot leave tend to hit the spam button.
Most email platforms add it automatically, but you should confirm it is working on your sending domain.
A worked example.
A recipient taps unsubscribe in the mail app and is removed immediately, without logging in or finding a link. The brand sees fewer spam reports because leaving is easy.
Common mistakes.
- Assuming it is on without checking
- Hiding the visible unsubscribe link
- Making people log in to unsubscribe
