What is Email template?

An email template is a reusable layout with set styles, spacing and blocks, so that each new email keeps the same look without being built from scratch.

A good template fixes the things that should not change, such as the logo, fonts, footer and link styles, and leaves room for what does. It speeds up production and keeps flows, campaigns and transactional messages looking like they come from the same brand.

Templates usually contain modular blocks, for example a hero, a product grid, a text section and a footer. Editors can stack and reorder them, so a one-off layout does not need custom code each time.

Review templates now and then. Old ones collect broken links, outdated legal text and styles that no longer render well in current email apps, so test a refreshed version before relying on it.

A worked example.

A hypothetical candle brand has a template with a header, a hero block, a two-column product row and a footer holding its address and unsubscribe link. The designer adds a new reviews block once. Every future campaign can use it, and no one has to rebuild the footer again.

Common mistakes.
